Why Senior Care?

Our Beginnings

There are a billion businesses one can pursue, so why did we choose senior care? In 2025, seniors rightly expect more from retirement. Families are searching for senior living in South Charlotte that not only meets their loved one’s basic needs, but actively empowers them to live a more fulfilling life. There’s a huge gap for this high quality, vibrant memory care – so we set out to provide it.

Our Leadership Team

Andy Bahr

Andy Bahr is the Founder and President of The Magnolia Assisted Living and Memory Care, a private family care home in South Charlotte created for families seeking an elevated, highly personalized approach to memory care. Andy founded The Magnolia with a simple but uncommon vision: to provide elders living with Alzheimer’s and dementia the same dignity, attentiveness, and respect he would want for his own family.

Andy’s life has been shaped by leadership, discipline, and service. A graduate of Culver Military Academy, he served as Unit Commander of the Black Horse Troop before earning his bachelor’s degree in Human Resources with a minor in Entrepreneurship from Miami University. He later completed a master’s degree in Sports Administration at Northwestern University, where he also served on the football recruiting staff—developing the relationship-driven leadership style that defines The Magnolia today.

While Andy enjoyed success as an entrepreneur, including founding and selling a national transportation brokerage, his calling to senior care is deeply personal. The Magnolia was inspired by his late grandmother, Dottie, whose experience with dementia revealed the profound need for smaller, more intentional memory care environments.

Andy is a CNA-trained professional, North Carolina Licensed Assisted Living Administrator, CPR-certified caregiver, med tech, and senior placement advisor. He is actively involved in daily operations, ensuring residents receive consistent, individualized care in a calm, residential setting.

Andy lives in South Charlotte with his wife, Lindsay, and their goldendoodle, Rosie. Through The Magnolia, he is honored to serve Charlotte families during one of life’s most important decisions—providing peace of mind through compassionate, refined memory care that truly feels like home.

Lindsay Bahr

Lindsay Bahr serves as the Marketing and Activities Director at The Magnolia Assisted Living and Memory Care, where she is deeply involved in creating a warm, engaging, and thoughtfully designed living experience for residents and families. From a young age, Lindsay felt a natural connection to older adults and the importance of meaningful human connection. As a teenager, she volunteered in nursing homes, often visiting residents through the Pets on Wheels program and performing dance and gymnastics routines—early experiences that shaped her belief that joy, engagement, and personal attention are essential to quality senior care.

When the vision for The Magnolia was introduced, Lindsay immediately recognized it as an opportunity to help build something intentionally different from traditional senior living. She completed advanced training through the RALA Academy and ongoing coaching, further refining her approach to relationship-based care and family-centered communication.

In her role at The Magnolia, Lindsay oversees marketing, resident engagement, and family experience while remaining actively present in the home. She collaborates closely with caregivers and leadership to design meaningful daily activities, support residents’ routines, and ensure families feel informed, welcomed, and confident in the care their loved one receives. Her philosophy is simple: residents thrive when they are truly known and engaged in ways that reflect their interests, history, and abilities.

Lindsay is a CNA-Trained Professional, and serves as Magnolia’s Qualified Activities Director with extensive preceptorship experience and clinical training. Her blend of creativity, operational insight, and compassion helps ensure The Magnolia delivers an elevated, personalized memory care experience—one that offers families peace of mind and residents a true sense of home.

The Heart Behind The Magnolia

Behind The Magnolia are two people who care deeply about creating a place that truly feels like home.
Andrew and Lindsay Bahr founded The Magnolia with a simple but powerful belief: families deserve a care option that feels warm, personal, and deeply human.
As a locally owned and operated residential assisted living home, Andrew and Lindsay are actively involved in the day-to-day life of The Magnolia. For them, this isn’t just a business. It’s a commitment to the families who trust us with the people they love most.

Our Values

Having Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia doesn’t mean your parent is no longer an individual, but “big box” facilities can make it feel that way. Moving to specialist senior living shouldn’t mean the end of the lifestyle your parent loves.

At The Magnolia, they’ll be free to continue exploring their passions and engaging in their favorite hobbies. Within an upscale, safe, and secure residence, your loved one will form strong friendships and discover brand-new interests, all while receiving the personalized support they need.

Our core values of integrity, honesty, reliability, and teamwork underpin everything we do. We don’t take shortcuts with our residents’ care. We’ll do what’s right for your loved one, even if it’s not the easiest option – and we’ll keep you firmly in the loop throughout.
